CAMp Schedule

Basic SCHEDULE

This year's JMU Summer Band Camp will be from Wednesday, July 5 - Sunday, July 9.  Instruction will take place from 8:30am - 8:30pm each day, beginning Thursday, July 6.  Time will be allotted each day for appropriate meals, water breaks, recreation, and practice sessions.  Each evening, students will participate in an organized recreational activity until curfew at 10:30pm.  Followed by lights out (monitored by the SBC counseling staff) at 11:00pm. 

Note:  All camps will follow a similar basic schedule.  Participants will receive a detailed schedule with information pertaining to their specific camp at registration.


WEDNESDAY, July 5

 

12:00pm       Camp Registration

LOCATIONS

Festival Center Ballroom - Marching Band, Drum Majors, Drumline, and Color Guard Camps

  • Register with camp Staff
  • Turn in Medical Forms
  • Move into dorms - Shenandoah & Potomac Halls

Forbes Center, Room 1115 - Concert Band Camp

  • Register with camp staff
  • Turn in Medical Forms
  • Move into dorm - Gifford Hall

 3:30pm          Opening Sessions

  • Festival Lawn (located behind the Festival Center) - Marching Band, Drum Major, Drumline, and Color Guard Camps
  • Forbes Center, Room 1115 - Concert Band

4:00pm          First Session – each camp at assigned locations

  • Concert Band – Forbes Center
  • Marching Band – Bridgeforth Stadium
  • Drum Majors – Festival Center Ballroom
  • Drumline – Festival Lawn
  • Color Guard – Field Hockey Complex

5:30pm          Dinner – E-Hall (Marching & Concert Bands @ D-Hub)

7:00pm          Evening Sessions – each camp report to assigned locations 

9:00pm          Evening Recreation – Playfair @ Bridgeforth Stadium

10:30pm       Curfew – Shenandoah, Potomac, and Gifford Dorms

  • All participants will report back to dorms following evening activity

 Note:  Optional instrument storage for drumline members will be available at the Festival Center Lower Drum.

11:00pm       Lights Out

 

NOTE:  Individuals who are not able to check in during the open registration period (12-3pm) should contact the Summer Band Camps office to arrange a check-in.


THURSDAY, July 6 - SATURDAY, july 8

 

7:00am         Breakfast – E-Hall (Concert Band @ D-Hub)

8:30am         Morning Sessions

  • Each camp will report to assigned locations
  • Rehearsals and practice

 11:30am        Lunch – E-Hall (Concert Band & Marching Band @ D-Hub)

 1:00pm          Afternoon Sessions

  • Each camp will report to assigned locations
  • Rehearsals and practice

 4:30pm          Dinner – E-Hall (Concert Band & Marching Band @ D-Hub)

6:00pm          Evening Sessions

  • Each camp will report to assigned locations
  • Rehearsals and practice

 8:30pm          Evening Recreation/Activities

  • Details about each select activity will be provided each day

10:30pm         Curfew – Shenandoah, Potomac, and Gifford Dorms

  • All participants will report back to dorms following evening activity

11:00pm       Lights Out


SUNDAY, July 9

 

7:00am          Breakfast – E-Hall (Concert Band @ D-Hub)

8:30am          Final Rehearsals

  • Each camp will report to assigned locations
  • Final rehearsals and practice
  • Camp pictures

11:30am        Lunch – E-Hall (Concert Band & Marching Band @ D-Hub)

  • Students are encouraged to pack up their dorm rooms during this time, in preparation for check-out.

1:00pm          Final Camp Performances

  • Concert Band – Forbes Center for the Performing Arts, Concert Hall
  • All other camps – JMU Bridgeforth Stadium

CHECK OUT will begin immediately following camp performances at the Shenandoah and Potomac Hall Courtyard – Concert Band @ Gifford Lobby.
